I am a native of LaGrange, GA. I graduated with a Chemistry degree from LaGrange College and a Pharmacy degree from Auburn University. I practiced Pharmacy for 40 years. I helped grow my family’s bottled water business, Parmer Water Company until selling to Culligan International in March 2022. I have transitioned into a full time career in art under the tutelage of Steve Close. I love painting en plein air the landscapes of the South.

About Randall Parmer

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I am married to Jill Jackson of Manchester, GA. We have two daughters Courtney and Hillary, two sons in law, and four grandchildren (3 granddaughters and 1 grandson). We are avid Auburn fans and love tailgating and attending Football and Basketball games in Auburn.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

Fat Daddy’s, Venucci’s, Cart Barn and Charlie Joseph’s.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I have lived and worked in LaGrange my entire life except for my time as a student at Auburn and a Pharmacist job in Tuscaloosa and Troy, Alabama.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

Sam Thrower, DVM. Dr Thrower was an amazing man, excellent diagnostician at his Small Animal Clinic at Lee’s Crossing. Dr Thrower had the ability to bring comfort and peace to every pet owner that came into his clinic. Most of all he was a philosopher, he was a visionary.  He was loved by his community, a friend to all. People came to him from outside the local community for their pets, but more so for the visit with Sam Thrower. He had a special gift from God, a man among Men.  His memory is still very strong in this community.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

Parmer Brothers Grocery

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

LaGrange still has a small town feel with a lively Arts and Music scene.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

Paul McCartney because I grew up during the British Invasion and have always The Beatles and their music. We would have lunch at Venucci’s and then walk around downtown to show off this beautiful city.
