My name is Erin and I am a native of LaGrange. Growing up, I always imagined I would return here to raise my own family. That was easy to do since I married my high school sweetheart, Blake. We are so thankful to live so close to each of our families. I am a local family medicine physician and part-owner of Hometown Family Medicine. In recent years, I have been able to serve as the Chairperson of the Troup County Board of Health. I am a mother to 2 wonderful girls, Madison and Mary Blake. After they were born, my husband lovingly encouraged me to get a hobby (I needed some “me” time), and I have picked up tennis. I have been able to meet so many wonderful people playing, had so much fun, and sweated off lots of stress! We are active with our church, Clearview Chapel, and Blake and I both are part of the praise band. Whenever we have the opportunity, we love to travel and see new things!

About Erin Meeks

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My husband Blake and I recently celebrated 15 years of marriage! Blake is the operations manager for The Medicine Cabinet pharmacies and Hometown Family Medicine. Our girls, Madison and Mary Blake attend Hollis Hand Elementary. We have most of our immediate family here in town – the Meeks, the Hoxsie’s, and the Coburns!

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I decided as a small child that I wanted to be a doctor and stuck to it. I love being a family medicine physician and it is especially gratifying to work in my hometown (hence the name of my company). I love getting to know my patients, helping them to feel better on their bad days, and equipping them to live healthier lives.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

I give out a lot of medical advice day to day. But the best advice came from Jesus – love God and love each other. If you do that, everything else works itself out!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I feel truly blessed to have my career and my family, so I hope that my life looks very similar in 5-10 years. I want to continue to have a successful and fulfilling career. My children will be approaching college years – eek! And hopefully I will have more stamps in my passport!

Erin Meeks & Our Community

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

So many good restaurants! We love Cart Barn, Vennuci, Mare Sol, Karvelas, Taste of Lemon, Charlie Josephs, and our new favorite, Rio Grande!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I was born and raised in LaGrange. Then after high school I moved around the state to go to college, medical school, and residency. I finished training, and moved back in 2014.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

Current business: Charlie Josephs. Former business: Mansour’s – they gave me one of my first part-time jobs in high school!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

LaGrange is a big “small town”. It’s still small enough where one person can get plugged in, make strong connections, and make a difference, but we are definitely growing and have a lot to offer!

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

I would like to have lunch with Colleen Hoover. She is author of a lot of recent best selling novels. I would love to hear about the writing process and about watching your work explode in popularity. Maybe we could meet at 505 Eats.

Thanks to my dad, I have a great appreciation for Classic Rock and he passed me his vinyl collection from the 70’s.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

Lazy weekends; laying on a breezy beach; getting lost in a good book; friends you don’t have to dress up for.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My children – they deserve it

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Family, Refuge, Rest
