I am the baby girl of Roger and the late Wanda Cotton. I was born and raised in LaGrange, GA and attended LaGrange High School. I am a graduate of Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Later I went on to receive my Master’s in Public Administration from Strayer University. I am not a stranger in the community, I have a heart and passion for serving.

 

 

About Ameia Cotton- Williams

 

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I am married to Rodney Williams and together we have three beautiful children Aniah, Rodney Jr., and Colby

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I was a probation officer for ten years for Hamil and Associates, Inc., probation company, and later went to the City of LaGrange as a probation officer as well. In both positions I handled day-to-day management of operations for Hamils & Associates Inc. I managed an active case load which required me to actively engage with probationers, court staff, judges, police officers, government administration, and provided service to the public. Now I am the Customer Service Manager for the City of Hogansville where I oversee all essential services to the residents in the city dealing with utilities. I direct and manage the progress of operations and resolve issues that may arise. I love the City of Hogansville I enjoy working with my staff and meeting new people in the community daily.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Always treat people the way you would want to be treated.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

In 5 to 10 years I see myself moving up in my position, maybe one day becoming City Manager and traveling more.

All my life

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

The most interesting person I have met here in our community is Kenneth McCamey. I can always count on him to give me the best advice no matter what I maybe going through. I can always count on him.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

The farmers market

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

We are family oriented and will pull together when needed.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

I would love to have lunch with the late Ruth Moore. I was the first recipient of the Ruth Moore Humanitarian award for her dedicated service to the community from the LaGrange Continental Society. I would like to meet at Splendid Events and talk about all the things she did in our community and listen to her wisdom.
